Let's talk about what it is to be free in Christ.
Since we have this freedom, what do we do as Christians?
Well, we show Christ.
Just like a fruit tree shows its proper fruit, we show the fruits of what it is to be a follower of Jesus.
Our researchers looked up the various words in Galatians 5:22 and explain what each word means to the Believer.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Peace is found in Christ alone. We suffer from the stress of life and worrying about the future, but when we place our hope in God we gain a sense of peace despite not knowing what our future holds for He who holds our future. In the words of David Guzik, “Jesus made the way to peace with God”. Romans 5:1 justifies this by saying that by faith we have peace with God. Peace goes beyond happiness for happiness depends on what is happening in our life and often changes. Peace is a sense of joy through trials and having trust in God.
Greek: eiréneuó

Katherine & Ethan & Ty talk about KINDNESS in Galatians 5
- There are two kinds of kindness. There is spontaneous kindness and planned kindness. Spontaneous kindness is when you show kindness to someone who is in need unexpectedly. It is when you respond to an act of need no matter who it is. Planned kindness is when you plan out to show kindness to someone at a specific time during the day. A planned kindness can be bringing a gift to someone after their workday or school.
- Verses that describe how you should treat others is ones such as Ephesians 4:32. Also, when you are continuously kind it is categorized as planned kindness. Planned kindness is shown in Acts 9:36 when the girl was continually kind all day.
- This can apply to the reader by being self-less. Put others above yourself when they are in need.
- A personal example could be if you are walking down the hallway and your about to be late to class but someone in front of you drops their books and papers. Instead of worrying about if you will be late or not put the other person before yourself and help them collect their stuff.
- Kindness should be a part of the Christian lifestyle and although it may not be easy and benefit us it is our calling to be kind and show God’s kindness through us. So, whether it is planned or spontaneous kindness, we should show this attribute in our everyday lives.
"Patience" as told by Lilli and Brighton
In Galatians 5:22-23 it talks about the what the fruits of spirit are. The one that we want to focus on today is patience in the Greek the word is υπομονή (hoop- om- on-ay). Patience is described as mindful, tolerate, passionate, and preserving. Patience is not judgmental or impulsive. There are two types of patience, internal and external.
An example of internal patience would be if you were to be studying for an exam, and could not teach yourself the information you need to know. Instead of becoming overwhelmed and angry with yourself you must remain calm and not get frustrated. An example of external patience is when you are getting ready for school or an event, but nobody else in your family or group is ready at the designated time to leave. Instead of yelling or getting angry at the people you sit and wait for them to finish getting ready, or even help them.
Proverbs 15:18 says, “hot tempers cause arguments, but patience brings peace.” This verse relates to my life when I’m having a disagreement with my siblings or parents. Sometimes it is hard to control my temper, but I try to remember to stay patient and it brings calmness to the situation. When you see yourself getting angry with yourself or another ask God to give you patience and He will give it to you.

Galatians 5- JOY
Savannah, Chloe, and Sydney's presentation:
Although many people think that joy is just another word for happiness, it actually exceeds the definition of happiness. Happiness comes and goes with positive and negative experiences, while joy is constant. Because the foundation of joy is the Spirit of God, once we are saved it remains always in us. Even when circumstances are terrible and everything seems to be going wrong, we can still have joy knowing that God is with us and that one day our troubles and struggles will pass.
Take this for an example...
Last year, my dad left me, my mom, and my sisters for another woman, but even though we felt everything was going wrong, we still had joy because we knew God was with us and would get us through this time of trouble.
If you are a Christian this applies to you. Once you have accepted Christ, you will always have an unexplainable joy within you despite your troubles.
"Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy"- 1 Peter 1:8
The Greek word for "joy" is "Χαρά" and is pronounced "Chará."

Gentleness
by Maddie, Jade, and Samantha
Gentleness means the quality of being kind, tender, or mild-mannered. It also means having moral goodness or integrity. The Greek word for it is χρηστότης, which is pronounced “khrā-sto'-tās.”
There are different kinds of gentleness. For someone to be gentle, they have strength, are slow to anger, and can express a form of kindness as well. Hebrews 5:2 says, “He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness.” Also, Proverbs 15:1 states, “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Another verse that represents gentleness is Philippians 4:5 says, “Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” These verses exemplify gentles outside of when it was mentioned as one of the fruits of the spirit in Galatians 5:22-23 which says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” This trait can apply to everyone in their everyday lives because they are able to demonstrate it through their actions. God gives us the ability to be gentle, and we can pray to Him and ask for the strength in order to display this quality.
Each of us are supposed to display these fruits if we are a Christian. If you know someone who is struggling in life or is having a bad day, you can use your words to uplift them and to encourage them. Also, if you know someone who is struggling with sin, you can give them truth with love. You do not judge them in this way, but you are turning them in the right direction towards God. Gentleness can be shown through people in many ways. They can display the fruits of the spirit in their own lives, especially gentleness.

OUR WORD IS "PEACE" FROM GALATIANS 5:22
Let's also look at Ephesians 2:14 - "For He Himself is our peace.
Often times, I am in situations where I question my position and purpose in life. I don't do this to question my existence, but to reassure myself there is a reason for everything. God has a wonderful and perfect plan for me. So, when I am in troubled situations, I turn to Him for peace and trust His will, not my own. Turning to God and letting him take control, and giving him the permission to take control because you can't do it alone, is the most relieving experience. He is peace.
You can show examples of by peace by how you react in a situation. It can be hard to show peace during times of struggle and sadness, but if we put our trust in God, He will give us His peace. Peace is mentioned in the bible as a fruit of the spirit (Galations 5:22), along with love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. If we let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts (Colossians 3:15) it will be evident in our actions and beliefs. For example, imagine someone went and tattled about you doing something that you didn’t do. How would you react?Someone with peace would not try to get revenge. They would trust in God that He would be in control and work things out for the best.
The Bible gives examples of peace all throughout the bible. Almost every chapter contains a verse that can be understood as being peaceful.
The Greek word for peace is ειρήνη. It is pronounced “eye-ray-nay."
Overall, peace is having constant trust in God, you can trust Him with all things and rest in His word. One way you can start bringing peace into your life is by praying and reading the Bible (especially verses about peace like Hebrews 12:14, 1 Peter 3:11, and 1 Peter 5:7.
This is from Sydney, August, and Jalen:
"Gentleness"
What is the meaning of gentleness? Gentleness means the quality of being kind, mild-mannered, and tender. In the Bible, there is only one type of gentleness the word is derived from the Greek word prautés. Titus 3:2 to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone. This verse is saying that you should be respectful and be considerate and gentle towards all people. Another example was when the fall happened and God was gentle with Adam and Eve instead of starting over on the earth. A real-life example of this verse is being gentle to your parents or siblings. One evening when my siblings and I were watching TV they were being annoying and I figured I needed to be gentle with them even though they were being annoying. Christians need to have gentleness at all times when they are living their daily lives and home lives.
