Quotes from scholars that deal with the book of Luke:
"There is only one reason why people who know the Truth of the Gospel are not willing to repent and believe. IT is because they will not see themselves as the poor, prisoners, blind, and oppressed. It has nothing to do with the style of the music your church offers, the drama and skits you stage, or the quality of your laswer light show. It has everything to do with the spiritual deadness and blindness, of pride. God offers nothing to people who are content with their own condition, except Judgement. If you don’t think you are headed for hell, don’t think you need forgiveneness, you put no value on the Gospel of Grace. ((Luke 9:23-24) “ - The Hard Truth by John MacArthur
"There are five Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Christian. But most people will never read the first four." www.reasonabletheology.org
:Jesus’ birth brought a new era in the history of redemption, but one that is still in complete harmony with the old... It is important to try to persuade people, like Luke in his Gospel, of truth of Christianity." - John Piper

SUMMARY OF LUKE:
Luke is quite unique when put side by side to the other Gospels. Not only was it written by a doctor and is seen sometimes as scientific in its explanations, but it also has more emphasis on the people Jesus came to save. Luke is written more to the “down and outs” society houses. The Gentiles, women, tax collectors, and other shamed people are the put at the center of Luke’s intended audience desiring for them to see that the Gospel is for them just as much as anyone else. - Background Info
- Author- Luke
- Date- 70 AD
- Written to Theophilus for showing him a complete and good narrative of the early history of the Christian.
- My favorite thing about this book
- Luke was a doctor and extremely smart scholar. One of my favorite things about his book was the detail he uses in all parts of the book. I get such a vivid view of every story and scene he talks about. it makes the Bible easier to relate to even though it happened thousands of years ago.
- One of my favorite stories in Luke is when Mary comes to visit Elizabeth. When this happens Elizabeth’s baby leaps for joy inside her because it knows that Jesus is in Mary. Elizabeth’s baby was John the Baptist who prepared the way for Christ.
